Intimidad Romero (2010- ) is an anonymous independent artist well-known since 2010 for introducing herself as an 2.0_artwork by using her intimate pixelated digital pictures as the main source for social interaction within the web 2.0.
Intimidad Romero by Intimidad Romero is an artistic intervention in Facebook that critically examines personal and interpersonal dynamics in contemporary mediated daily life by subverting the conventional codes of this social media. In this way, this project explores and questions how concepts such as “privacy”, “intimacy” are affected by these dynamics while offering a way of resisting them. And so, through anonymity, pixelated pictures, and non-interaction, Intimidad Romero develops an action that brings along a critique of the media inside the own media withstanding the spectacularization of everyday life.
As both artist and artwork, Intimidad Romero has been extremely influenced by Adorno, Benjamin, Debord, Deleuze ,and Groys. Her work has caught the attention of several mass-media such as El Mundo, El País (Spain), Neural Magazine (Italy), Rhizome.org (USA), Fast Company (USA), PSFK (USA), among others. She has been nominated to the “Social Media Art Awards” (Phanoemenale Festival Germany 2015), invited to Pixxelpoint Media Art, curated by Igor Štromajer (Slovenia 2014) , Streaming_Egos | Ego Updated NRW Dusseldorf, and “Memory Card” curated by Paula Acosta y Santiago Rueda Fajardo at the Museum of Modern Art Bogotá, HTMLLES Montreal curated by Laura Baigorri and Athens Digital Art Festival, 6PM Your Local Time | Link Art Center curated by Fabio Paris y Domenico Quaranta, PhotoEspaña 2017 or 100 Curators Collection| Saatchi Art curated by Hendrik Folkerts, among others.
